Here’s how God blessed us in 2006!

§        Added a new five-day class in the afternoon (12:30 - 3:00)

§        Continued our appreciation for Science in the classroom by hatching chicken eggs, raising butterflies, burying our hamster, and welcoming a new one

§        Found rides for seven children through the generosity of other families.

§        Provided free vision screening to all students through the Montgomery County Association For The Blind in November

§        Worked closely with the Chester County Intermediate Unit regarding

     six students’ IEPs.

§        Internship with Phoenixville Area High School students, one in the spring and one in the fall; Job shadow with three students; Sr. Project with one student

§        Eighth grade community project with one student from Phoenixville Area Middle School

§        Three VFCC students observed in the classroom

§        Students from CAT Pickering Early Childhood Education Shop visited six times

§        Utilized an interpreter’s skills for our Hispanic families; same person introduced Spanish in the classroom in the fall

§        Purchased 2 new rugs and a new vacuum.

Outreach:

·     Helped one family enroll in CHIP

·     Connected three families with WIC

·     Connected three families with PACS

·     Set up two families with donated computers

·     Supplied clothing for three families

·     Supplied furniture for one family

·     Supplied car seats to four families; high chairs to two families

·     Supplied food for three families

·     Supplied medical equipment for three families

·     Supported one family during a period of spousal abuse, moving to a shelter and finally moving out of state

·     Supported one family by connecting the mother to a mental health facility

·     Connected one family with the right vision care, resulting in the child receiving glasses

·     Continued a weekly Women’s Bible Study

·     Collected items for PACS (local food bank)

·     Supported eight families through the Christmas season with help from staff, a former family, Phoenixville Area YMCA and Phoenixville Community Health Foundation

·     Participated in Community Day at Reeves Park

·     Presented to the Rotary Club of Phoenixville

·     Updated our Parent Resource Library

·     Updated our Children’s Video Loaning Library

·     Hosted the following Parenting Seminars:

 Identity Theft (with Fred Hubler)

 Kindergarten Transition (with Phoenixville Area School District)

 

Family Events:

¨     Annual Family Fun Fair attended by over 300 people. 54 volunteers donated 160+ hours of time and 38 local businesses donated to our Silent Auction

¨     Family Fun Night in March had 110 people attend

¨     Parent Orientation in Aug had 37 families attend

¨     Family Pot Luck Dinner in Oct with 18 families attending

¨     Grown Up Get Togethers were held monthly as a support system for parents in the spring

 

 

Staff/Board Development:

Ø     Renewed Certificate of Compliance with PA DPW (specific trainings were attended by each staff member)

Ø     Added one new teacher (part time)

Ø     Added one office administrator (part time)

Ø     Hosted one training seminar by the CCIU which was open to all local Child Care Providers on Professional Development Records

Ø     Staff updated their own PDRs

Ø     Attended some Brown Bag Lunches hosted by the Phoenixville Community Health Foundation

Ø     Updated brochure

Ø     Updated website

Ø     Continued sending weekly email prayers to Board Members and other friends of the school

Ø     Became a member of Phoenixville Area Chamber of Commerce

Ø     Began Strategic Planning process with consultants from the Executive Service Corps

Ø     Director attended a Spanish class

Ø     Received a grant from the Phoenixville Community Health Foundation for $10,000 to fund the “at risk” afternoon class

Ø     Raised over $7000 in a mail appeal (which will give us $5000 in matching funds from PCHF)

Ø     Donated laptop and internet service gave us access in the office

Ø     Donated tax services and audit

Ø     Fundraising events included hoagie sale, Fun Fair, t-shirts, note cards, cookie dough and appeal letter.

 

Scholarships:

January – May ~ 7 students received scholarships out of 69 students (at a cost of $3475)

September – December ~ 9 students received scholarships out of 59 students (at a cost of $ 3690)

 

Future Goals:

ü     To reach more at risk children

ü     To reach out to fathers

ü     To reach out to the growing Hispanic community

ü     To obtain funding from more sources

ü     To fill existing classes
