We provide support services to these parents, such as parenting classes, scholarship options and referral services.  Included in these are workshops focusing on parenting skills, child development, goal setting, career planning, and self-help topics. In exchange for free daycare, mothers in the program are required to attend a monthly workshop and volunteer hours per week in the house. Through these sessions, we try to enhance the self-esteem and knowledge base of each of our mothers, so she can become a better student, mother and woman.

Mom’s House helps to provide any necessary support this mother may need to accomplish her goal of graduating. The mother submits her grades each semester and meets regularly with the Administrator of Mom’s House regarding her progress. Each must also be enrolled in school on a full-time basis and maintain passing grades.  If needed, tutoring will be provided to the mother.

This past year we had three graduates:  one from Antonelli in the Medical Assistant program, another from Temple University with a degree in Psychology and the third mother graduated from Harcum with an Associates degree in Veterinarian Science.  Two of the mothers achieved academic excellence while continuing their education. Since its opening, Mom’s House has served 114 children and 111 mothers, with 54 graduates.
